Club Trophies

The club conducts a number of trophy races during the summer and winter seasons. There are several types of trophies including: perpetual handicap trophies; distance championships; age group championships; open 50m; sprints; open 100m championships and seasons points trophies. For details click here

Nominations

  1. The program for the night is displayed on the registration table.

  2. Swimmers can only nominate for one of the 25m, 50m or 100m in each form stroke (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle). Points from these races go towards the season’s points trophies. In winter swimmers can opt for the 200m freestyle instead.

  3. Swimmers must nominate for their races on the race nomination slip provided.

  4. On a swimmer’s first club night, the swimmer’s date of birth and gender are also required on the race nomination slip.

  5. Nomination slips must be placed in the container provided.

  6. Swimmers must nominate for their races by 6.45pm . This cut off is required to give sufficient time to organise the swim meet, for racing to start just after 7.00pm and finish before 8.30pm

  7. Swimmers arriving late will be able to swim. They must let the marshaller and starter know which races they would like to participate in. However, as we cannot enter race nominations in the computer after the meet has been built no points will be accrued towards the season’s points trophies.

Marshalling

1.      Swimmers must assemble in the marshalling area at the deep end of the 50m pool.

2.      The night’s program will be displayed on the whiteboard.

3.      Swimmers must listen for their name to be called out and report to the marshaller.

4.      If it is a handicap race swimmers will be told their handicap.

5.      Swimmer should go to their allocated lane and wait to be called by the starter.

6.      The marshallers will not go looking for swimmers if they are not in the marshalling area. If a swimmer misses a race their result will be entered as DNS (Did Not Swim) and no points will be awarded.

7.      The behaviour and safety of children is their parent’s responsibility. Any child misbehaving, acting in an unsafe manner, or not cooperating will be excluded from a race or club night at the discretion of a club committee member or official.

Required assistance from parents:
Nominations; Timekeeping; Marshalling and Starting

  1. Parents are required to assist with the running of the club nights. To run a club night we require computer officials, marshallers, a starter and timekeepers.

  2. The computer officer always requires help with entering nominations before racing starts and swim times as they become available during the club night.

  3. When the chief timekeeper requests for timekeepers, please do not hesitate to offer assistance. We cannot start the club night until there are timekeepers in each lane.  Please note that to speed up the club night we usually require two teams of timekeepers i.e. 10 timekeepers to cover the 5 lanes.

The diving pool and warm pool are OUT OF BOUNDS during club nights
