Hi,
I
would like to welcome you to the website of the Melville Swimming Club and
hope you find the information about our club interesting and informative.
The
club has been an institution “South of the River” in Perth Western
Australia, since 1926. After it’s early beginnings, with club events
being held in the Swan River at Bicton Jetty,
Blackwall Reach and using various pools in the Melville area, the club has
now taken its place as the premier club at the Melville Aquatic Fitness
Centre.
As
one of Perth’s oldest swimming clubs, Melville has, during its proud
history, provided an avenue for fun and friendship through swimming to
thousands of members. Some of our current members are the third generation
of swimmers from “Melville” families.
Our
club has been very successful in competition with many past state and
Australian representatives. More recently, Melville
was the winner of the Summer Gold Pennant Competition for 2007/08. Through
our association with coach Kareena Preston, head coach of the Swimstrong
training squads, the next crop of champions are already at Melville.
Of
course, the club welcomes swimmers of all abilities and aspirations. From
aspiring Olympians, to those who may wish to be competitive at school
carnivals through to swimmers seeking recreation and/or fitness, Melville
is a friendly and welcoming club. Today Melville Swimming Club continues
its tradition as a community focused club which combines competitiveness
with a family oriented, fun and friendly atmosphere. So why not come down
and join us.
If
you would like any further information regarding our club, please do not
hesitate to contact me or any of the other committee members.
Regards,
Bob.
